2 Scooters Adventure and Redkite on TV

One week ago we had another lovely meeting with Beth, who is helping us a lot to get everything settled up. One of the topics in our agenda was how to get in touch with the community to feel more connected and send positive energy as well to those people that are going through such hard period.

And here’s the solution…

The Channel Ten Weather Cross

WHEN:  Thursday (Today) 21st May 2009

WHERE:  Channel Ten from Sydney Football Stadium

TIME:  5:20pm to 5:55pm LIVE CROSS

WHATS HAPPENING:  There will be 2 live crosses from the SCG on Network Ten during the weather.  The first cross will be a general crowd cross with Tim Bailey and then a longer cross with crowd interaction.

It’ll be a great opportunity for us to meet some more Redkite staff, families and possibly a celebrity or two!

Try to find us in the crowd, it’ll be a bit of “Where’s Wally?” game to remind your children hood…haha

And in retribution to all help Redkite is giving us we now come to you guys to help us to help them…

It’s sounding a bit confusing ay? haha

Don’t panic!!! I’ll make myself clear.

At the moment the target for 2Scooters Adventure is to raise enough funds to support 2 families over the next 12 months through the often long and difficult cancer journey by providing essential emotional and financial support.

And we know with the help we’ll get from all of you we’ll be able to raise this target and support even more families.

You can help either donating straight to Redkite through our profile on the Everyday Hero website or enjoying  the Sunday’s Redkite celebrity AFL game, the curtain-opener for the Sydney Swans v Port Adelaide match held at the SCG on Sunday May 24.

We’ll be waiting for your audience today supporting us and of course Redkite and on Sunday at the AFL match.

Stay tuned for more information about this and future events

And GO SWANS!!!

Harbour Bridge Day Out

Last friday, 17th of May, we had a fun morning riding for the very first time the scooter we will use for the trip.

Our first stop was at our friend and professional photographer Guilherme Hornos‘ house, where we all met to go to Action Motorcycles in the city.

First of all we had to have a coffee to start the day after waking up at 7 am, and at least have a decent face to shoot the pictures.

Finally we headed to the store and met Jimmy, our friend and bike consultant. Got the keys, the scooter and a borrowed helmet, because Alex, a very smart boy, forgot his at home.

On our way to Kirribilli, we had a taste of what this trip is going to be. Laughing at Alex on the scooter following us, at Luiz with his eternal kid’s spirit, at Bruno with his sleepy eyes and at Gui with his never ending jokes.

Getting there was time to set the things up and start shooting.

As you’ll all see, the pics were not just good but we also had fun.

How everything started…

Many of you have been asking us how we developed this idea?

So lets start at the beginning…

How did we come up with this crazy, “or not so crazy”, idea??

For quite sometime, we were thinking about moving to Perth. The trip was created out of our need for adventure and to discover new cultures! Then a few months ago Luiz got his permanent residency visa approved to live in Western Australia. At this time that the two of us, Alex Stueber and Bruno Zanetti, decided we were ready for a change and prepared to move to Perth .

After deciding to go, we thought about how we were going to get there?

Our first thought was travelling by plane. However  luggage posed a problem as we have too many bags!! We thought of sending our bags through Fedex or a similar company, but it proved itself to be very expensive.

The second idea was to hire a campervan or a similar car and drive there. By driving to Perth we could discover Australia, learn more about the culture and people.

This was the best idea so far but something was missing from our adventure and we didn’t know what it was. We knew that  traveling by car our luggage could easily be transported. So we decide this was the way to go and started planning the route we were going to take. We initially decided to go straight from Sydney to Adelaide, passing through Bathurst and Mildura. This way we could pass through small towns and villiages not often visited by tourists or Australians alike.

Now one thing was certain, we were not going to fly to Perth. Instead, we were going to discover the Outback.

At this point things started to get complicated, as there were still some points to be decided and arranged. Firstly, the need to sell Alex’s bike, a Yamaha FZ6N. Although, Alex needed to sell his bike, it didn’t mean he was prepared to become a commuter again…hahaha. He wanted to buy another bike, a cheaper one this time. . . A scooter seem like the perfect idea.

Then another issue came up. Sell the scooter before going to Perth and buy a new one up there OR transport it to the other side of the country?

During a lunch break, Alex and Bruno got chatting about a solution to this issue. Many ideas were discussed. The best solution, in our disturbed point of view as some of you might say, was to . . .

RIDE TO PERTH ON THE SCOOTERS!!!!

This is how our 2 scooters adventure was born!!!
