Acordamos nesta manhã por volta das 8 e fomos organizar galões de gasolina para poder cruzar o deserto de Nullarbor, que na lingua nativa significa local sem árvores.
E nessa procura por galões conhecemos Pauline, uma senhora que todo mundo na cidade conhece. Muito muito figura e que adora falar, ô se adora!
Logo depois de comprar os galoes encontramos um senhor de 72 anos chamado Brian.
Ele nos levou para uma volta pela cidade, mostrou os portos, os pesqueiros de atum e contou suas intermináveis, engraçadas e muito interessante histórias uma delas sobre seu filho o qual perdeu para o câncer há algum tempo.
Enquanto Alex, Joca e eu andavamos pela cidade com Brian Luiz foi procurar um lugar onde ele pudesse tirar a poeira da sua prancha e cair na água para surfar.
Nesse meio tempo nos entretendo quase esquecemos que tinhamos que cair na estrada de novo e acabamos nos atrasando. Já eram quase 2h da tarde quando percebemos que era hora de partir, nos despedimos de Brian, que nos convidou para um churrasco em sua casa o qual infelizmente tivemos que recusar.
Era tarde, Luiz ainda estava surfando em algum lugar, não estava atendendo o telefone. Eram apenas eu, Alex e Joca, sem nossas jaquetas e apenas 2 scooters.
Felizmente tinhamos 3 capacetes com a gente e conseguimos cair na estrada em direção ao lugar onde iriamos passar a noite, mais ou menos 10km antes de Port Kenny.

This morning we got up around 8 went after petrol and more petrol gallons to go through the Nullarbor Plain where we met Pauline, I think one the most known person of the whole town, a very outgoing, talkative and friendly lady.
At one of these stops we met Brian a 72 years old funny man.
He drove us around Port Lincoln explaining the fishing business, showed us the wharfs, the millions worth tuna fishing boats and told us some of his endless funny and really interesting stories and also told us about his son which he lost to cancer.
While Alex, Joca and I were riding around the city following Brian around the city Luiz went down in a mission trying to find a spot where he could take the dust out of his surfboard and jump out in the water for a splash.
During all these hours of entertainment we nearly forgot we had to go back to the road and once again we got late. It was almost 2h in the afternoon when we realised it was time to go, said our goodbye to Brian, who wanted us to stay for the and have a bbq at his place. It’s a shame we didn’t meet him yesterday.
Anyway it was late Luiz was still surfing somewhere, he wasn’t answering the phone and that was me, Alex and Joca without our jackets and just the 2 little scooters.
Luckly we had three helmets on us so we could start riding towards the place we were going to spend the night 10km before Port Kenny.

Hoje mais uma vez tivemos um dia bom de estrada, ensolarado, quente pudemos inclusive usar apenas camisetas. Tirando o vento que estava bem forte e irritante as vezes, tudo estava muito bom.

Um pouco antes da nossa parada diária vimos um navio do lado da estrada era o HMAS Whyalla, construido em 1941, o primeiro navio de guerra moderno feito em South Australia. A guia era uma senhora muito gentil e simpática que nos mostrou e explicou cada detalhe do navio.

E também pelo segundo dia consecutivo conseguimos chegar no nosso destino antes do anoitecer. Estamos melhorando cada vez mais.

Depois de col0car nossas coisas no quarto fomos dar uma volta e encontramos um casal que nos sugeriu comer num restaurante na avenida principal, o que acabou sendo uma bagatela. $9,90 pelo frango a milanesa com vaaarias opções de acompanhamentos e sobremesa, o quanto você aguentar comer e a comida era boa.

Amanhã o dia não vai ser dos mais longos na estrada, apenas 150km até Port Kenny, então teremos algumas horas de manhã para dar umas voltas pela cidade e tirar umas fotos antes de partirmos.

Today again we had a very nice day on the road, sunny, warm we could even ride wearing just t-shirts, apart from the wind that was really strong and a bit annoying sometimes everything was great.

Just before our daily break to lunch we saw a huge ship on the side of the road, it was the HMAS Whyalla, constructed in 1941, is the first modern warship built in South Australia. The guide was a really nice lady that showed and explained every single little thing on the ship.

Also for the second day in a row of the trip we managed to get to our destination before dusk. We’re definitely getting better and better.

After putting our stuff in the room we went for a walk and met a nice couple that suggested us to go eat in a restaurant down at one of the main roads, which proved itself to be a bargain. $9,90 for a chicken schnitzel heaps of side dishes to choose and ice cream all you can eat and it wasn’t a bad food it was actually quite good.

Tomorrow the day is not going to be very long only 150km to Port Kenny so we’ll have a few hours in the morning to drive around the city and take some pictures before we leave

Hoje demos uma volta na cidade para comprar comida, tiramos umas fotos com os 3 porquinos (Que na verdade eram 4, mas só pegamos 3 deles) cartões postais e mais algumas fitas para filmar a viagem e pela primeira vez na viagem conseguimos viajar sem ter q usar um monte de roupa.

Saimos de Adelaide por volta do meio dia com a temperatura por volta dos 20 graus e prontos para mais 300km.

Hoje o dia foi bem tranquilo, pudemos almoçar numa área para churrasco que encontramos na cidade de Lochiel e conhecemos uma galera que estava trabalhando na contrução de um salão onde vão acontecer as festas e eventos da cidade. Ficamos um bom tempo conversando, falando sobre nossa viagem, a história da cidade e claro dicas sobre estrada e lugares para ficar e visitar.

E também pela primeira vez conseguimos chegar no nosso destino antes do anoitecer.

Today we went to the city to buy some food, took some nice with the three little pigs (They were actually four and not that little…haha) postcards and more tapes to record the trip and for the very first day of the trip we could ride without all those layers of jackets and pants to protect us against the cold.

We left Adelaide around 12h with a nice weather, the temperature around 20 degrees ready for more 300km.

Today went pretty smooth we could enjoy our lunch at a bbq area in Lochiel, where we met some really nice guys that were working on the Lochiel Hall where the city parties and functions will happen. We had a long chat with all of them talking about our trip, the city history and of course some tips about roads and nice places to stay and visit.

And for the very first time as well we got to our destination before night.

We’re getting better

Nosso dia hoje começou um pouco tarde já que não tinhamos muita pressa.

Hoje foi um dia meio burocrático, Alex teve que ir no banco fazer um novo cartão já que ele conseguiu perder o dele num posto de gasolina pelo caminho, Luiz teve que ir tentar transferir a carreta (sem sucesso) que comprou para transportar as nossas malas e eu tive que ir no correio mandar um documentos para Sydney, onde conheci uma senhora muito simpática, me perguntou uma porção de coisas, de onde eu sou, o que estava fazendo por lá e foi onde expliquei sobre a viagem e ela acabou doando $10 para a Redkite. Vou criar um post mais pra frente falando sobre ela, vocês entenderão o por que.

Todos nós tivemos um ótimo dia, dirigimos pela cidade, visitamos alguns lugares legais, Alex e Luiz cozinharam para nossos anfitriões e recebemos ótimas notícias do outro lado (Perth).

Wanda parte da administração do “Sunset Coast Scooter Club” uma das nossas grandes parceiras e apoiadoras nessa jornada doou $225 para a Redkite, o que nos deu energia nova para cair na estrada amanhã sentido Port Augusta.

Our day today started a bit late as we were not in a rush.

Today was the bureaucratic part of the trip, Alex had to go to the bank to issue a new card as he managed to forget his at a petrol station somewhere, Luiz had to go to the Service SA (The same as the RTA in NSW) to transfer the trailer (without success) he got to transport our bags and I had to go to the post office to send some documents to Sydney, where I met a very nice lady who made me some questions about what I was doing in the city, my family and was when I explained about the trip and she ended up donating AU$10 to Redkite. I’ll put a special post to her later on, you’ll understand why…

We all had a great day, we drove around Adelaide, visited some nice spots, Alex and Luiz cooked dinner to our hosts and we got great news from the other side (Perth).

Wanda the “Sunset Coast Scooter Club” admin one of our biggest partners and supporters on this journey just donated AU$ 225 to Redkite, which gave us a new gas and energy to hit the road again tomorrow towards Port Augusta.

Morning at the kitchen in Kangaroo Island. Really nice view to start the day.
Time for brekky and then explore the island, watch the penguins, seals, kangaroos, etc.

First day in Adelaide, nice, sunny, warm morning.
We all had a good night of sleep at the Alex’s friend’s place, Christian.
Today for the very first day of the trip we could wear boardies, thongs and just a tee without a jumper on the top.
We’re now sitting at a servo having a coffee before we get the ferry to the island. We’re all looking forward to relaxing at the beach.

The first impression about Adelaide: a really quiet city, it’s saturday and I’m not seeing many people on the streets, but there’s something I’ve never seen in Sydney. A 24h supermarket.

Parada rápida para almoçar 18km de distância de Mt Gambier e 450km de Adelaide. Umas 9h na estrada pela frente.

Quick stop for lunch 18 km away from Mt Gambier and 450 km away from Adelaide. Something like 9h ride.

Depois de um longo e cansativo dia ontem, com alguns contratempos para chegar em Port Fairy conseguimos chegar as 10h30 da noite. Tinhamos deixado Melbourne as 8h30 da manhã. 400 km no total.

Contudo foi um bom dia, paramos em Bells Beach onde acontece todo ano uma etapa do WCT. Para a alegria do Luiz.

Paramos também nos Doze Apóstolos. Para a alegria de todos nós. O lugar é incrível.

Não pudemos ficar muito tempo, pois o sol já estava se pondo e estávamos congelando lá em cima, apesar disso conseguimos tirar boas fotos do pôr do sol.

Essa manhã acordamos cedo colocamos tudo de volta no carro e caimos na estrada novamente para mais 600km.

Estamos agora em Portland, o lugar onde nasceu o estado de Victoria, a caminho de Adelaide onde ficaremos alguns dias.

Amanhã é um dos dias igual tivemos em Jindabyne quando fomos para as Montanhas Nevadas. Dia de relaxar.

Kangaroo Island aí vamos nós.

After a tiring and long ride yesterday, with some set backs along our way we got to Port Fairy 10h30 at night. We had left Melbourne at 8h30 in the morning. 400 km total.
Although it was a pleasant day, we stopped at the Bells Beach where is held every year the WCT. For Luiz’s delight.
We also stopped at The Twelve Apostles. For all of us delight at this time. The place is amazing.
We couldn’t stay for too long the sun was going down and it was FREEZING up there, but we could take some nice shots of the sunset.
This morning we got up early again put everything back in the car and back to the road for another 600 km.
We’re now in Portland, the Victoria’s Birthplace heading to Adelaide where we’re staying for a couple of days.

Tomorrow is one of our tour days like happened in Jindabyne when we went to the Snowy Mountains. Relaxing Day…

Kangaroo Island here we go.
